Here in West Cork we are so lucky to have wonderful produce on our doorstep. We do not take this for granted!! To have fresh organic veggies come through our door is just a fantastic feeling! Luckily many of our producers are selling their produce at local markets ( Ballydehob on Wednesdays, Bantry on Fridays, Skibbereen on Saturdays and Schull on Sundays) And not only do they sell lovely veggies, they are such great people and always come in like a ray of sunshine. So please buy local as not only is it organic, it’s good for you and you will support local businesses.

Fear not we are still serving lunch every day and dinner on Thursday,Friday and Saturday. Our dinner menu now changes every night and has been refined to offer you the best of local produce and to go with what is available in the season. Breakfast is served on the weekend and we always have lovely cakes, savoury treats, coffee and loose teas.

Eh so yeah not quite summer yet here in West Cork, but we have had a few nice days here and there. Ballydehob is still buzzing anyway. We had the Folk and Maritime Festival just a few weeks ago. It was a great atmosphere indeed! Anja Bakker played an afternoon gig and she was simply amazing on her harp. We also had the RattleSnake County who did a lively evening gig and a Sunday session with Tom Patterson and Dave Morton. Music @ Budds just sounds great! Definitely something we want to do more of!

Today we had our staff wine training with the lovely Fionnuala from Winesdirect. We didn’t go through all our wines as we have quite a few and that could have ended up as a session rather than a wine tasting!!!!

Here’s some of our exquisite wines:

First up a lovely white wine, Les Granges a mixture of grapes :Piquepoule, Sauvignon, Vermentino and Muscadet. It is from the Languedoc region in France and can be enjoyed especially with shellfish.

Next on our wine menu: Val Do Sosego, Alberino, a stunning wine from Galicia, Spain. Very aromatic and a fresh taste. Would go well with fish.

Our most popular wine at the moment is a red Chateau de Goudou, Malbec from the Cahors region in France. It has warm spice, dark fruit and a savoury finish.

Another gorgeous red is the Nicodemi Terrana, Montepuliciano from the Abruzzo region in Italy. It’s spicy with ripe cherry flavours and lovely with pork.

So there we go a few tasters for you! Some fantastic wines to accompany your meal here at Budds. We also have 2 new wines of the season: A fruity red, Antolini, Valpolicella Ripasso from Italy and a Domaine Serge Laloue, Sancerre, France.

The vineyards are independent, small family businesses with organic standards.These artisan growers work with deep respect, keeping soil alive and healthy through sustainable practices.

Ballydehob Jazz Festival is coming up this long weekend and we are very excited! Here at Budds we will be having not one, but two gigs on! Hotdiggetydawg!!!

First on Saturday at 5pm will be Marlene Enright. She will perform old school jazz in her own beautiful style and unique voice. Marlene is a favourite at the Ballydehob Jazz so get there early.

Then on Sunday at 3pm it’s time for Poco Rio. They are a latin jazz band of family and friends from Cork, Edinburgh and Dublin. Flavours of Brazil and upbeat jazz from Bossa Novas to Van the Man.

We are enjoying a beautiful Spring with flowers blooming and busy birds nesting. Budds has been busy too and thanks to all who have visited and supported us.

We have had Paddy’s Day, Mother’s Day and Easter all fly by with beautiful sunny days. We have changed our closing days to Tuesday and Wednesdays now as we felt there was a need to have somewhere open here on a Monday.

Ana has been busy making beautiful cakes! And as ever her famous Carrot cake is flying it! She also does a wonderful Coffee Cake and many other treats, including Gluten Free and Vegan options.



It has been a while! Budds Restaurant has gotten off to a flying start! We are overwhelmed with the response and have been very busy in our first week of business! So much so that we are hiring more staff and trying to organise and train everyone up! Thanks so much to all that have visited so far. I can even say we have regulars already. That’s AMAZING! Never in our wildest dreams did we expect to be like this! Long may it last and we hope to keep you all happy

We had an opening night on the 7th March! Annie opened it for us, officially cutting the ribbon. There was no one else really who could have done this special opening for us. Thanks Annie for the wonderful heartfelt speech and we wish you all the best

The next day we were open for business and since then the days have flown!!

Our new website is up and running created by Cruthu Creative. A fantastic design, they do amazing work and are situated here in Ballydehob!

Our staff have been amazing this first week and have had to put in extra hours. Thanks so much girls. Your work is appreciated!! Thanks Laura, Ana, Raymonde, Niamh, Sorcha, Katie, Roisin and Joy!!
